Installation, Co-Creation Protocol, and Website

2022

Which deities, heroes, superheroes, celebrities, and other iconic beings would represent this future world?

The collective imagination of each historical era reflects and embodies the values, ideals, and knowledge of the people who lived in it, offering insight into the different worldviews that coexisted.

Presented as an archaeology of the future, this project consists of a series of illustrations depicting creatures, gods, mythical or ordinary beings from a world that has reconnected with nature.

Following a protocol I designed and implemented, participants and collaborators of the 4th season of the Science Fiction Committee (CSF4) were invited to project themselves into a world that had re-established its bond with nature and to introduce us to its beings and narratives. Participants were then encouraged to reinterpret their creations—or those of others—using charcoal on white paper.
Co-Creation Framework
A co-creation framework, based on the designed protocol, guided and inspired participants to create the beings that represent them.

The Installation

The charcoal drawings, accompanied by short descriptions, were exhibited hanging on the wall. The information and imagery provided were intentionally not exhaustive, leaving space for visitors’ imagination to fill in the gaps.

The scenography of the installation was essential to the experience. Through a minimalist approach, the spatial arrangement and presentation encouraged visitors to actively engage with the narrative. The absence of excessive details allowed them to form their own interpretations, contributing to the evolving storytelling of the work.

This installation was presented at the closing exhibition of the CSF4 residency in Paris.

The Digital Extension

Alongside the physical installation, I explored the question of digital scenography, as well as the (re)transmission and (re)interpretation of a work like this in a digital format.

The result was a simple and minimal website, which replicates the codes of the ephemeral wall installation.
Technically, it is a static website built with Jekyll.
