Description

Dis-assembled is a video work that explores the tension between structure and deconstruction—visually, sonically, and conceptually. Drawing on glitch aesthetics and bodily references, the piece evokes visceral responses through a precisely rhythmic montage.

The soundscape consists of three raw, rhythmically repetitive audio sources: the dry staccato of a chopping knife occasionally slicing through lemons; the crash of porcelain breaking (licensed archival sample); and documentary-like footage of chickens being butchered. These elements, unprocessed and material, lay the groundwork for a tactile sonic experience.

Visually, the work blends personal and stock footage: macro shots of skin, slow sequences of unbroken and broken plates, and scenes of flesh being carved with care or force. These images have been processed through glitch software, creating visual textures that distort, melt, and bleed into one another.

Through this interplay of dissonance and synchronization, Dis-assembled stages a sensorial choreography—where anticipation is built and subverted. It seeks to stir the body as much as the eye, disrupting habitual perceptions and triggering complex emotional and physical responses.
